Basic information

Biomarker: Calretinin

Histology type: rare type

Cohort characteristics

Country: Italy

Region: Milan

Followed up time :

Total number Group I Group I number Group II Group II number Group III Group III number Group IV Group IV number
21 malignant mesothelioma 8 metastatic serous effusions 13

Sample information

Conclusion: Calretinin is a very useful marker for positive identification of normal and tumor mesothelial cells in serous effusions.

Sample type : cytology

Sample method: immunostained

Expression pattern : expression

Expression elevation: In all cases the two observers gave concordant evaluations of the staining results, with regard both to staining intensity (strong and weak) and percentage of immunostained cells (< 10%, 10–50%, 50–75%, > 75%), counting all the tumor cells of the cytocentrifuge preparations.
