Sample information
Conclusion: It is concluded that c-FLIP might contribute to the carcinogenesis and aggressiveness of endometrial carcinoma and might be a useful prognostic factor in the tumor.
Sample type : tissue
Sample method: RT-PCR/Immunohistochemistry
Expression pattern : expression
Expression elevation: A mean percentage of positive tumor cells was determined in at least five areas randomly at high magnification (3400) and assigned to one of five categories: (a) 0, ,5%; (b) 1, 5–25%; (c) 2, 25–50%; (d) 3, 50–75%; and (e) 4, >75%. The intensity of c-FLIP immunostaining was scored as: (a) 1, weak; (b) 2, moderate; (c) 3, intense. For tumor showing heterogeneous staining, the predominant pattern was taken into account for scoring. The percentage of positive tumor cells and staining intensity were multiplied to produce a weighted score for each case. Cases with weighted score ,1 were defined as negative expression, otherwise were defined as positive. The percentage of immunoreactive cells was calculated to determine the PCNA-LI by counting a total of at least 1000 tumor cells at high magnification (3400).

Funtion Uniprot: Apoptosis regulator protein which may function as a crucial link between cell survival and cell death pathways in mammalian cells. Acts as an inhibitor of TNFRSF6 mediated apoptosis. A proteolytic fragment (p43) is likely retained in the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) thereby blocking further recruitment and processing of caspase-8 at the complex. Full length and shorter isoforms have been shown either to induce apoptosis or to reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis. Lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity.
