Sample information

Conclusion: Combined positive E-cadherin, alpha-catenin, and beta-catenin expression was a significant prognostic factor.

Sample type : tissue

Sample method: immunohistochemistry

Expression pattern : expression

Expression elevation: Slides were scored for the intensity of the membranous staining of alpha-catenin staining intensity (SI) and for the proportion of positive tumor cells (PTCs) according to a scoring system that has been used previously by Moreno-Bueno et al.(12) The SI could vary from 0 (absent), 1 (weak), 2 (moderate) to 3 (strong, as in normal endometrium) (Fig. 1). The PTCs varied from 0 (0%), 1 (1–25%), 2 (26–50%), 3 (51–75%) to 4 (.75%). The degree of membranous staining, the staining score, was calculated as the sum of SI and PTCs (range 0–7).
