Sample information

Conclusion: Estrogen receptor-alpha as a predictive biomarker in endometrioid endometrial cancer.Patients with ERα negative endometrioid endometrial cancer are more often diagnosed with higher grade and advanced stage disease.

Sample type : tissue

Sample method: immunohistochemistry, digital image analysis,amplicon-based sequencing

Expression pattern : negative

Expression elevation: ERα expression was recorded as the percentage of stained cells, and classified by dichotomizing IHC expression regardless of intensity as present (≥ 1% staining cells) or absent (<1%) per ASCO/College of American Pathologists Guidelines [12]. To confirm accurate interpretation by digital analysis software cores with <5% ERα expression were reviewed by a pathologist (AAS) and visually scored as ERα- positive or - negative.

Related information

Funtion Uniprot: Binds to an ERR-alpha response element (ERRE) containing a single consensus half-site, 5'-TNAAGGTCA-3'. Can bind to the medium-chain acyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase (MCAD) response element NRRE-1 and may act as an important regulator of MCAD promoter. Binds to the C1 region of the lactoferrin gene promoter. Requires dimerization and the coactivator, PGC-1A, for full activity. The ERRalpha/PGC1alpha complex is a regulator of energy metabolism. Induces the expression of PERM1 in the skeletal muscle.
