Sample information

Sample type : tissue

Clinical method: immunohistochemical /tissue microarrays,image cytometry/PCR

Expression pattern : low p21(<1%) , high survivin expression(>158) and high microsatellite instability

Expression elevation: Due to the specific staining pattern of survivin (scattered positive cell), the number of positive nuclei per 1.11 mm2 (ie the surface area of one tissue microarray cylinder at specimen level, after correction for irregular cylinder boundaries) was used as the ‘Survivin Index.’

Disease information

Statictics: Median;Range

Protocol age: 66;37–94

Related information

Description: We conclude that low p21 and high survivin expression are poor prognosis indicators in FIGO stage I endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, especially when high microsatellite instability occurs.

Summary: This gene is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) gene family, which encode negative regulatory proteins that prevent apoptotic cell death. IAP family members usually contain multiple baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domains, but this gene encodes proteins with only a single BIR domain. The encoded proteins also lack a C-terminus RING finger domain. Gene expression is high during fetal development and in most tumors, yet low in adult tissues. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Expression: Biased expression in bone marrow (RPKM 13.2), testis (RPKM 10.8) and 12 other tissues
