patients with prostate cancer were treated with robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP)

Inclusion criteria

RARP was performed using the transperitoneal, 6 port technique [10, 11]. Sixteen patients were treated with androgen deprivation therapy prior to RARP and were excluded from this study. Additiolly, 31 patients had been diagnosed by a biopsy protocol including MRI-targeted biopsy and were also excluded.

Elements of both high-grade cancer risk (such as BMI) and sampling efficiency (such as percentage of cancer positive biopsy cores) contribute to ISUP grade upgrading. Excluding cases diagnosed as ISUP grade group 1 at biopsy, BCR-free rates were significantly worse in cases with ISUP grade upgrading, highlighting the need for more accurate pathological diagnosis at biopsy.
