After incision of the endopelvic fascia,the exposed DVC is ligated just distal to the prostate apex with a single stitch in a figure-8 fashion using 2-0 PDS on a CT 1 needle. A second 2-0 PDS suture is passed through the ligated DVC complex and then through the periosteum of the pubic bone for the anterior suspension. Subsequent steps of the prostatectomy are then performed and the ligated DVC is transected prior to transection of the urethra.
