Cut and Suture Ligation of the DVC

The DVC is managed after nerve sparing and just prior to urethral transection. The urethra is identified at the lateral aspect after incising the overlying fascial layer. Once this plane is established anterior the urethra,insufflation pressure is increased up to 20 mmHg to minimize venous bleeding. Division of the DVC is performed with cold scissors from lateral to medial direction. Pinpoint bipolar cautery is used to control any arterial bleeding and a 3-0 V Lock suture is then used to ligate the open DVC in a running horseshoe fashion.
