30375062 US-guided PFMT perioperative pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) A team composed of a physiotherapist and a nurse provided the following PFMT regimen at least three times (T1, before RARP; T2, immediately after urethral catheter removal, ie, about 7 days after RARP; T3, 1 month after RARP; Figure 2). The team also provided the patient with a discussion on the anatomy of the pelvic floor and continence mechanism using a leaflet, followed by an individually PFMT augmented with US-guided biofeedback and instruction about home PFMT at T1. The physiotherapist visited the bedside of the patient in the ward and provided a 15-min verbal instruction of PFMT at T2. The team provided PFMT with US-guided biofeedback again at T3. The team also confirmed symptoms and severity of UI and gave instructions about the management of UI. When a patient had severe UI, he received one or two times more US-guided PFMT after 1 month until he had a confidence to contract PFM enough to prevent UI. View

25484950 Bipolar Series 1 utilized selective bipolar cautery with the dissection of the neurovascular bundles beginning at the posterior aspect of the prostate and continuing with selective bipolar and sharp dissection caudally for nerve sparing. RARP Nerve-sparing technique View
25484950 Athermal clip and peel Series 2 used an athermal “clip and peel” posterior dissection technique whereby the initial plane was again developed along the posterior aspect of the prostate. In this series Weck hemoclips and sharp dissection alone were used for the initial dissection of the neurovascular bundles off the prostate without any use of cautery. The plane was then continued caudally, using mostly blunt dissection, peeling the neurovascular bundle away from the prostate.  RARP Nerve-sparing technique View
28425193 BT brachytherapy View
25484950 Athermal anterior/posterior Series 3 used an athermal technique that included the dissection of the lateral prostatic fascia with the neurovascular bundles. For this series, a combined anterior and posterior dissection technique was used in which Weck clips and sharp dissection were applied without the use of cautery and with minimal blunt dissection.  RARP Nerve-sparing technique View

31719716 Physiotherapy 56 men had participated in physiotherapy and had complete data at baseline and 2-year follow-up.  RAC 4 prospectively collects data from participating men at several points in time: approximately 3 weeks or less before their radical prostatectomy and at 3 months, 9 months, 2 years, 3 years, and finally 4 years post-surgery. Pre-surgery and 3 months post-surgery, a full clinical assessment is done by a trained nurse, whereas patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are collected at other time points. These data are entered into a clinical registry, which was used for this study. View

32521115 Cut & Suture Cut and Suture Ligation of the DVC The DVC is managed after nerve sparing and just prior to urethral transection. The urethra is identified at the lateral aspect after incising the overlying fascial layer. Once this plane is established anterior the urethra, insufflation pressure is increased up to 20 mmHg to minimize venous bleeding. Division of the DVC is performed with cold scissors from lateral to medial direction. Pinpoint bipolar cautery is used to control any arterial bleeding and a 3-0 V Lock suture is then used to ligate the open DVC in a running horseshoe fashion. View
32521115 Stapler Endoscopic Stapling of the DVC Staple control of the DVC was performed using a 45 mm purple load of the Endo-GIA Tri-Stapler (Covidien, North Haven, CT, USA). The instrument is articulated downwards initially to enter below the pubic symphysis. The stapler is then released to neutral position to incorporate the DVC before closure and firing. View
32521115 Suspension suture ligation with suspension technique After incision of the endopelvic fascia, the exposed DVC is ligated just distal to the prostate apex with a single stitch in a figure-8 fashion using 2-0 PDS on a CT 1 needle. A second 2-0 PDS suture is passed through the ligated DVC complex and then through the periosteum of the pubic bone for the anterior suspension. Subsequent steps of the prostatectomy are then performed and the ligated DVC is transected prior to transection of the urethra. View
