Sample information

Conclusion: Differential expression of P-cadherin and beta-catenin seems to be important in endometrial carcinoma and is associated with aggressive subgroups. Our findings also indicate that a shift from E-cadherin to P-cadherin expression (cadherin switch) is an important prognostic feature in these tumors.

Sample type : tissue

Sample method: immunohistochemistry

Expression pattern : high expression

Expression elevation: For P-cadherin, tumors were classified by the upper quartile as high expressing (SI ≥ 6) or low expressing (SI<6). Regarding p120ctn, samples were classified by the lower quartile as low expressing (SI< 3) or high expressing (SI ≥ 3).

Funtion Uniprot: Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.
